Tuesday 23rd June – bike ****- Felixstowe circuit including breakfast at water ski jetty– sunny and hot.

Wanted to make the most of another lovely day here on the East Coast so got up early and headed down to the prom. After a bit of a misunderstanding where Mag though we were going to Landguard with just a flask we quickly headed back home and packed breakfast then went to the water ski jetty on the River Deben. The prom was nice and quiet, this is the best time of day, reaching The Dip our windsurf car park was full of cars of what turned out were open water swimmers making the most of low water. Looks like the council has given them the code to our barrier and hope that does not cause us a problem as parking is very limited for us windsurfers:( The poppies by the cliff car park are going off now but they have given us an amazing display for several weeks now! Again, took some nice pics of fishing boats in the mirror calm waters at the Ferry before continuing on the Deben path. With this dry, hot weather the clay path is bumping up badly now but we go slow so not too much of a problem and we have it all to ourselves :) We stop at the picnic bench for our cuppa, Weetabix and fruit but it turns into a nightmare with hundreds of tiny black flying bugs intent on committing suicide in our drinks so didn’t stay long, shame really as really pretty here, we should have sat at the end of the jetty which was a bug free zone! We took the third turning off to Falkenham church always lovely. The potato fields are now being harvested by a huge machine; I hope to get a pic of it working on one of our rides! Then the usual bridle ways and paths home in time for me to do my exercises in a very hot back garden before visiting our old friend Mary in her back garden. Going to be even hotter over the next couple of days, breaking 30 degrees but fingers crossed it might be windy enough for a foil?
